Update on the timings for the new European Regulations on medical devices and IVDs The European Commission presented the latest timelines for the new Regulations on medical devices and in vitro diagnostics (IVDs) at the Eudamed Steering Committee meeting on 14 December 2016. Formal adoption of the new Regulations is currently foreseen for the spring of 2017. Commission officials confirmed that the new Regulations should be published in the Official Journal at the end of the first quarter of 2017. Entry into force will be 20 days after the date of publication. The date of application will be three years later for medical devices and five years later for IVDs. Some Articles will apply earlier than others to allow for a smooth implementation of the new Regulations.
